Martin Edward Galvin Fund for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Research

Pulmonary Fibrosis Research led by U-M

November 2012
A study done by Dr. Eric White and his research team published a manuscript using funds from the Martin E. Galvin Fund for IPF Research.  The study is the first to propose studying human pulmonary fibrosis by using an actual human model.  In addition, the study demonstrates new and potentially important proteins that may be involved in human lung fibrosis.  The implications are that we can now begin to understand pulmonary fibrosis and end-stage lung disease as it affects humans instead of rodents, and paves the way for unique drug-discovery options for our patients.
